SKULK identified the hare as a recognisable symbol of Scottish folklore and was inspired by the narrative and aesthetic possibilities of The Wickerman (1973). Their design integrates this particular reference point with an exploration of superstitions and folklore specific to the farming and fishing communities of north-east Scotland.

The Big Hop Trail sees hare sculptures designed and created by some of the country’s most talented artists. After the event, the large hare sculptures will be sold at a charitable auction, with the net proceeds raised for Clan Cancer Support.
