The Hare of Hope has been created on the basis of nature being our healer, our place of solace and home. Red Betty is a firm believer that nature brings hope for all of us and she created this hare by covering him in an abundance of colour with flowers that remind her of her childhood and love for butterflies, creating peace and a sense of calm. The Hare of Hope aims to bring happiness and joy to everyone who sees it, reminding us to appreciate what nature brings.
Born in Aberdeen, Red Betty (also known as Leanne) studied at Gray’s School of Art. She now lives in the north-west of England with her husband and two young sons. Red Betty mainly hand paints in watercolours and loves painting the natural world, using colour to bring fun and flamboyance to her artworks and illustrations. Red Betty always wants to create something that the viewer can connect with, appreciate and love.
