Hare Ahoy is inspired by the infamous Orkney Pirate John Gow who was raised in Stromness. This pirate hare is complete with a spotted bandana, a patch on his eye and lots of smuggled treasure! The patches on the hare’s clothing tell tales of sailing the seas and you may even spot a few little ocean creatures who have hitched a ride on board too!

Hannah Jayne Lewin is a freelance illustrator based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. She creates illustrations because pictures can evoke an emotional response in someone. Bringing a character and their world to life through her artwork brings Hannah so much joy and pleasure. However, what excites Hannah even more than the creative process is the opportunity for people all over the world, of all ages and all backgrounds to engage with and enjoy her illustrations. She loves drawing and creating fun characters to make people smile and her work has been used across a variety of areas from children’s publishing to wall murals, licensing designs, to window art. Hannah’s clients include Scholastic, Thortful and Ladybug Magazine.
